Kritrivaseshwar Mahadev
K-46/23, West of Har Tirath Pond, Mrityunjay Mahadev Road, Daranagar, Varanasi
One of Kashi's 14 most sacred Shiva temples, where a mere darshan is said to cleanse all sins. The linga here was born from the body of Gajasura (Mahishasur's son) after Shiva pierced him with his trident. The original grand temple was destroyed by Aurangzeb in 1659; the current temple was rebuilt by Raja Patnimal south of the original site.
