Privacy Policy
Effective date: 07 June 2026
Platopy Media Pvt. Ltd. (“Platopy,” “we,” “us,” “our”) operates platopy.com and the PY AI chat guide (together, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors, registered users, and contributors.
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Platform.
1. Data we collect
Account information (only if you sign up to contribute): name, email address, and/or phone number, and if you use Google/social login, basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) shared by that provider.
User-generated content: photos, reviews, gem submissions, and any other content you choose to post, which may include metadata embedded in photos (such as location/GPS data, if your device includes it).
PY AI chat conversations: the questions and messages you send to PY AI, and the responses generated. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal details in chat (see Terms of Use, Section 7).
Usage and device data (automatically collected): IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and general usage patterns, collected via cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics and, where enabled, Meta Pixel.
Location data: if you grant permission, we may use your approximate or precise location to personalize gem recommendations.
We do not knowingly collect financial account details, government ID numbers, health information, or other sensitive categories of data through the Platform at this time.
2. How we collect data
Directly from you (signup, content submission, chat), automatically through cookies/analytics as you browse, and from third parties (e.g., basic profile data from Google when you use social login).
3. Why we use your data
- To operate the Platform: display gems, run your account, publish your contributions, and respond to PY AI queries.
- To improve the Platform and PY AI’s responses.
- To communicate with you about your account or submissions.
- To analyze usage and improve the product (analytics).
- To personalize ads, where cookies/ad tools are enabled and you’ve consented (see Section 5).
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal data. We do share data with service providers who help us run the Platform, including:
- Cloudinary — stores and serves images, including photos you upload.
- Our AI provider (powering PY AI) — receives your chat messages to generate responses. Depending on the provider’s terms, conversations may be processed on servers outside India.
- Google Analytics / Meta Pixel — receive usage data for analytics and, where applicable, ad personalization.
- Google (OAuth) — used if you sign in with your Google account.
- Google AdSense / advertising partners — may receive usage/cookie data to serve and measure ads, where you’ve consented.
- Local partner businesses (hostels, guides, cafes) — only if and when you choose to engage with a booking or referral feature, and only the data needed to facilitate that.
- Legal authorities, where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Platopy, our users, or the public.
- A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — you’ll be notified if this materially changes how your data is handled.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential functions (keeping you logged in, basic site operation).
- Analytics (understanding how visitors use the Platform — Google Analytics).
- Advertising (ad personalization and measurement — Google AdSense, Meta Pixel, where active).
If you’re located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we’ll ask for your consent via a cookie banner before loading non-essential analytics or advertising cookies, and you can change your preferences at any time. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
6. International data transfers
Some of our service providers (AI provider, Cloudinary, Google) are based outside India, meaning your data may be processed on servers abroad. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers offer appropriate data protection safeguards. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, such transfers are generally permitted except to countries specifically restricted by the Indian government.
7. Data retention
We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we’ll remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements (for example, content subject to an active grievance or legal request may be retained longer).
8. Your rights
If you’re in India (under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): you have the right to access your personal data, request correction or erasure, withdraw consent at any time, nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, and file a grievance with us (and subsequently with the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved).
If you’re in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR/UK GDPR): you additionally have the right to data portability, the right to restrict or object to certain processing (including for direct marketing/ad personalization), and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you’re a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we’ve collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at platopy07@gmail.com. We’ll respond within the timelines required by applicable law (generally within 15 days under Indian rules).
9. Children’s privacy
Platopy doesn’t currently restrict signup by age, but the Platform isn’t specifically directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from children in a manner inconsistent with applicable law. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact platopy07@gmail.com and we’ll take appropriate action, including deletion.
10. PY AI and your data
When you chat with PY AI, your messages are processed by our AI service provider to generate a response. We do not knowingly use your chat content to identify you personally beyond what’s needed to operate the feature. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information in chat.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
